Homework

Homework (HW) may be assigned Monday through Thursday to support what the students are learning in school. Because we have a half-day program, practice is necessary at home.

All homework needs to be completed in the child's own handwriting. When homework is completed neatly and all directions are followed, a parent or adult should look over the child's homework and initial the upper corner of the page. Always check both sides of a worksheet (WS) for completeness. Homework should be completed in pencil when writing and crayons when coloring.

Papers that have "T" with a circle around it at the top mean that they were completed together in class with teacher guidance.

Please assist your child in cleaning out all papers from their folder and backpack nightly to stay organized.

I will often assign small folded story booklets for students to very briefly read aloud to an adult as homework. These are marked with HW at the top of the page. These booklets reinforce the decodable and/or high frequency words we are practicing. This will help build oral reading fluency and confidence. No need to send them back. Only written homework needs to be returned to school.
